More than 400 poets from 14 countries entered this year’s Transformation single-poem contest. The winning poems were selected by Leading Judge Fiona Samson, from a longlist of outstanding poems compiled by Triage Judges Anna Saunders & Zoe Brooks, who read all the poems. These wonderful poems are collected into an Anthology of Transformation poems, with an adjudication by Fiona Sampson on why she chose the prizewinning and shortlisted poems.
Our new First-pamphlet competition this year offered poets aged 25 or less the opportunity to have their first poetry collection in book form to be published and promoted by Frosted Fire, publisher of Cheltenham Poetry Festival. The two winning poets, chosen by Lead Judge David Clarke from a longlist selected by Triage Judge Howard Timms, will be published in the autumn. These winners are Imogen Osborne & Natalie Perman.

The third competition for Frosted Fire First Pamphlet Award was our most successful yet. The judges were led, as in previous years, by Angela France who selected the winners and commended poets from a long list produced by two triage judges. The poets who won publication of their first pamphlet in the 2020 contest — David Lukens and Lee Potts — were those triage judges.
