Recording

Wildfire Words offers you a simple opportunity to make your poem heard as well as seen

Wildfire Words aims to publish audio alongside almost all writing we publish. Some contributors submit audio they recorded themselves with their poem.

Recording audio on your phone, tablet, or computer takes a few minutes. You can then upload that file with the poem’s text when you submit it. Or you can record after you know your work is published.
You can send any format you like. We can convert most audio or video to MP3 sound format used in Wildfire Words.

If you don’t want to record yourself, we will do it for you (free of charge*) at one of our recording sessions.

If you choose someone else to read your work, you can book an audience place and a reader place. We also offer a good reader (free of charge*), if you ask for it.

Let people hear your voice
as they read your writing

Send your recording | Join a recording session

A publishing opportunity exclusive to Wildfire Words — a global audience to hear your voice while viewing its printed text. We invite you to make a recording of everything you submit which is published on Wildfire. If your initial submission includes audio, it will be fast-tracked in the selection process for publication

You can make recordings on most phones, tablets, or laptops. We only publish audio, but if it’s easier for you to make and send a video, we’ll copy the audio part then delete your video.

We also accept audio-only submissions (without text), as long as you follow the guidance on word count and content in the feature or competition to which you submit.

To send your own recording of text already published (or submitted), please click on this link.

If you prefer help with recording, you can join one of our free recording sessions*.
Open mic sessions are for writing already published in Wildfire Words. Free audience tickets are available, so you might choose to preview a session before joining one to read..
Private sessions are for making recordings of work already submitted or entered in a competition. If you book a private session, we will email your individual appointment time within two hours of the official starting time.

How recording sessions work

When you book a place for Open mic or a private session, you will receive an email immediately confirming your place and giving a link to join the Zoom event. A reminder, repeating the Zoom link, will be sent a day or two before the event

A running order and link to the event are emailed to readers the day before the event. After the event, each recording is published next to its text.

*We usually ask for voluntary donations , and several features each year are for a specified charity. Whether you make a donation, or not, your chances of being published depend solely on the merits of your work.
