Events

Wildfire Words presents free international Zoom events to celebrate outstanding writers we publish and record audio for our online anthologies. Places can be booked in advance and the link to each event is emailed as soon as a ticket is ordered plus reminders near to the date.
Recording events are open mics for writers published in, or submitted to, Wildfire Words to read their work. That produces the audio for which this ezine/website is renowned.

11am bookings are for PRIVATE recordings. You will be sent a 10-minute time slot between 11 am and 12:30pm.

Winners Showcase for Audio Book Competition

The prizewinners, and shortlisted writers in our first annual audio-book competition will be reading some of the works that made them winners. They include 4 prize-winners who have each gained a cash prize and will have their winning books of text and audio published by Wildfire Words during 2026.

Winners Showcase for Conflict & Collaboration competition

The prizewinners, shortlisted, and longlisted writers in our sixth annual single-poem competition will all be reading the poems that made them winners. Among these 17 poets are two first-prize winners, one for best audio, one for best text. They are from opposite sides of the Atlantic, with contrasting voices and approaches to the theme.

An audio book has two big advantages over print — it saves cutting down trees to make paper and readers can see and hear the author’s work. So what better topic for a poetry audio book than trees and how they relate to highs and lows in the author’s life?
Audience members agreed with that during the discussion at the end and some supported the idea by reading their own work in the open mic — not necessarily about trees.

Winners’ Showcase for our third Limerick competition

All winners of prizes or commendations in this competition celebrated their success by reading and recording their limericks for an anthology with audio published later in July.
